Vargas Wildlife Lodge
Vargas Vildmarkslodge (Wildlife Lodge) is located in Hälsingland, also known as ”bear county”. We have more than 25 years of experience of wildlife watching and our hideout is considered to be the best in the world, according to BBC. We also operate tours to the nearby archipelago for white-tailed eagle (or sea eagle) watching.
After more than 15 years of bear watching in the same location, we have become a part of the animals’ everyday lives. Despite the superior minds these animals have been gifted with, our presence has become accepted by both younger and older bears. The hide we use for our bear viewing is placed with great care to give you as a guest and a photographer as much as possible. It is comfortable and of a very high standard, including a separate part with a dry toilet. You have your own nook with a comfortable bed and sleeping bag, pillow and blanket, a high-quality chair, a private window and also binoculars to borrow. All guests have access to small, specially designed gaps for cameras or binocular lenses. Here you also get the opportunity to take good pictures with a simpler camera. For well-equipped photographers, it is good to know that we use bean bags as a solid base for cameras and lenses - tripods and other support arrangements often cause sounds and inconveniences that the animals easily perceive! If the wait is long, there is a small library of books and magazines.
